What Our Homeowners Say

"You guys continue to provide the personal service of a small company with the professionalism of a much larger organization."

"I just wanted to let you know that we are having a heavenly time at Medicine Bluff. Everything works, especially the passive solar. The house maintains a fairly constant 68 degrees without doing anything with the windows. the highest temperature we have had indoors is 72 degrees, the lowest is 64. A small armload of wood is enough to cook breakfast, and the temperature of the house goes up at most 2 degrees after the wood cook stove has been going for an hour at 250 degrees.

Humidity in the home does not go up when we shower or cook.

We have 11,000 gallons in our tank, and only used 630 gallons in the first month."

"Teresa, your cost reports continue to be outstanding. I would like to test the main messages of the cost report --- correct me where necessary.

  1. The initial cost estimate included about 2% contingency
  2. The forecast final estimate is 3% below the original estimate after backing out change orders
  3. 15% of the project costs are outstanding
  4. There is a reasonably high degree of confidence that the final cost will be close since none of the remaining activities involve a high risk for significant over run.
For comparison, I consider 5% deviation (plus or minus) to be very good. Cost conformance within 10% does not require formal supplement (in my organization) so in other words is "not bad". Three percent cost conformance on a project with only 2% contingency is outstanding and is indicative of high quality and hard work."
